Hi everyone!
Today, I'm here to chat with you about a really interesting and super popular concept: "influencers." With the growing impact of digital influencers, I thought it would be helpful to bring this analogy in to make it easier to understand two important concepts in astrology: rulers and dispositors.
You've probably heard that certain planets rule specific signs. For example, Mars rules Aries. But what does "to rule" actually mean? Let's simplify this by using the idea of a monarchy.
Rulership: The Planets' Reigns
Imagine each planet has its castle, its particular kingdom, and this castle is located in a specific sign. Mars, for example, has its castle in Aries. When Mars is in Aries, it's "at home," in its reign. Now, Mars can also be temporarily in another sign, like Capricorn, where the owner of the castle is Saturn. Even so, Mars remains the king in Aries, influencing everything that happens there, even from afar.
Now, let's imagine the Sun decides to live in Mars's castle, in Aries. The Sun might want to make some renovations, but before any changes, it needs to ask permission from the true owner of the castle: Mars. This is because Mars rules the sign of Aries, but it's important to note that Mars doesn't rule the Sun; it only rules the sign. This is where many people get confused.
Dispositor: Influence in Action
When a planet is in a sign that isn't its original castle, it's at the disposition of that sign's ruling planet. For example, when the Sun is in Aries, it's under the influence of Mars, which is the ruler of Aries. Mars, in this case, acts as the Sun's "dispositor." In other words, Mars influences how the Sun expresses itself while it's in the sign of Aries. They're connected and work together, but each with its function and sphere of influence.
Astral Influencers: A New Way to See Astrology
The idea of "astral influencers" makes this concept even easier to grasp. Think of Mars as the big influencer of the sign of Aries. Mars influences everything that happens in Aries, just as it influences any planet passing through there, like the Sun, for example.
If you're just starting to explore astrology or already have some knowledge, this analogy can help you understand how planets interact and influence each other's signs.
I've already written a post about how simple astrology can be. After all, there are only 12 signs, and each one is associated with a specific planet, forming this network of influences and rulerships. The name of that article is "The Astrology Cheat Sheet."
