The Fire Element

Before I start talking about the Fire element, I'm going to quickly recap what we covered in the other posts. The zodiac signs are classified into Polarities and also into Elements. Each of the polarities encompasses two groups of elements, and consequently, two groups of signs.
The Fire Element is part of the first Polarity, which is signs of expansion and self-expression, and it is composed of three signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.
Jung related this element to the dynamic core of psychic energy, an energy that flows instinctively, in an inspired and self-motivated way. This energy needs a large dose of freedom to express itself spontaneously, exerting its will and stating its point of view directly and honestly. Fire signs exemplify the power of decision, great self-belief, and an endless force. They speak of self-confidence and self-assertion in the world through independence and leadership.
The Fire element has a strong, self-expressive energy, associated with the Yang energy: Solar, daytime energy, active force, and expansion. This explains why people with dominant Fire signs in their Natal Chart are focused more on the experience of the "self" and the "ego," believing in themselves before they believe in anything else.
The Fire element refers to a universally radiant energy, an energy that is excitable and enthusiastic and that, through its light, brings color to the world.
In the Fire element, you have heat, and with heat, molecules are physically in motion, which brings agitation. As we saw, a lot of it is about self-expression in the world; it is a very self-referenced energy, seeing the world through its own lenses, lenses created by personal experience. So, this is the energy that speaks of the Ego, that speaks of the "I."
It is an energy that needs freedom to express itself, to be spontaneous, to assert itself... and usually, its assertion is very frank, direct, and honest. People are very spontaneous when this energy is strong in their chart.
Therefore, independence is important, as are freedom and challenges. They have the strength to face conflicts, to fight for what is important to them, especially for what they believe in. And often, they believe more in themselves than in anything else that may exist.
So, it's an "awake and ready" energy—they wake up, get out of bed, put their foot down, and "BAM!" they are ready to work, to run, for whatever comes their way. In fact, I have a friend who is super Fire, with very strong Fire energy in her chart, and she often says that running is what puts her ideas in order.
When I say running here, I mean vigorous running... it doesn't have to be just running, but it needs to be a vigorous exercise #youhavetosweat. Because for this energy, if you don't sweat, if your face doesn't get red, it's not exercise, and you're not channeling that energy somewhere. And if this energy doesn't go somewhere, it can explode on someone. So, it's good to keep up with exercise to channel this energy and use it constructively.
Dealing with an Excess of Fire
If you identify with this description and feel this energy very intensely, you may have an excess of the Fire Element in your chart. This excess can manifest as impatience, impulsiveness, aggressiveness, or a tendency to be excessively self-centered. People with an excess of Fire may find it hard to be receptive, always needing to be active and in control.
To balance this energy, it is essential to channel it constructively. Vigorous physical activity is the main route. As I said before, if you don't sweat, if your face doesn't get red, the energy isn't being released healthily and might "explode" at someone.
Furthermore, since Fire speaks so much of the Self and self-will, an important practice is to focus on cooperation and receptivity. Try to listen attentively to others and yield control in small, daily situations. This helps to soften the tendency toward excessive self-assertion and promotes balance.
Dealing with a Scarcity of Fire
If you are reading this and thinking, "Wow, this has nothing to do with me!"
That's okay! This might be a low energy in your chart, and it is very important that you can activate it to achieve balance. And one way you can activate it is through vigorous physical activities. The difference is that the person with low Fire energy won't wake up very excited to run, but they will probably activate this energy and bring some kind of well-being in the end.
I, for example, have a very strong Fire element in my chart, and what is very important to me is Sunlight, Warmth, and that feeling on my skin. Where I work, the sun doesn't shine in the winter (yes, in Rio de Janeiro, believe it or not!), so usually at lunchtime, I rush outside and take advantage of about 10 minutes to bask a little in the sun (as they say in the South of Brazil). And this is something that does me a lot of good—getting in touch with this element that is so important in my energetic configuration.
Knowing about the elements present in your chart helps you bring practical tools into your daily life, like my example, which can bring you real benefits.
