Pairing wines with zodiac signs? Yes, this is real — and a lot of fun to explore!
In 2011, I came across a news article that stayed with me for years: “Sommelière Cecília Aldaz harmonizes wines and signs”. I cut it out and saved it, enchanted by the idea that grapes and signs share distinct personalities. Now, many years later, I continue to celebrate this connection with enthusiasm — after all, each sign has its essence, and each wine, its soul.
Today, we're going to talk about Gemini, the sign of the agile mind and endless conversation.
🍋 The Gemini grape? SAUVIGNON BLANC!
Geminis are naturally curious. They are born with the desire to understand the world and share ideas — lots of ideas. They are always exchanging, asking questions, and connecting. Their perspective is multifaceted, and their minds never stop.
And that is precisely why its grape is the vibrant Sauvignon Blanc.
This grape has a special ability to adapt, to surprise, to reinvent itself in different styles and terroirs. With or without oak, lighter or more structured, it always brings a fresh, youthful touch, full of personality. Just like Gemini, Sauvignon Blanc wins over with its versatility, intelligence, and natural charm. It is a grape that “reads the environment”, expresses itself lightly, but does not lose depth. It knows how to communicate with the world — and enchant wherever it goes.
✨ What is wine made with Sauvignon Blanc like?
According to the Essential Wine Guide - Wine Folly, Sauvignon Blanc produces light, dry white wines with striking acidity. They are vibrant wines that awaken the senses with citrus, herbaceous aromas, and tropical notes.
They should be consumed young, to take advantage of all their acidity and aromatic exuberance — something that combines perfectly with the spirited and fast-paced energy of Gemini.
Ideal to accompany days of good conversation, relaxed moments, and light dishes, such as salads, fresh cheeses, seafood, or Asian cuisine.
🍇 The production process:
Sauvignon Blanc generally follows a process that preserves its natural aromas and liveliness as much as possible:
Quick harvest to maintain freshness
Delicate pressing of grapes
Controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, without contact with oxygen
Short maturation, to bottle with youth and expressiveness
🌬️ Twins in liquid form
Gemini teaches us the lightness of movement, the joy of learning, and the beauty of not fixating too much, but rather, experimenting. Sauvignon Blanc does the same. It is a restless grape that expresses the new with grace and freshness.
So, did you see yourself in this wine?
