Aquarius Wine: Freedom, Inventiveness, and Authenticity in Every Sip

Pairing wines with zodiac signs? Yes! And more and more, I realize how real and delightful this connection is.
I fondly remember an article I read back in 2011: "Sommelière Cecília Aldaz pairs wines and signs." I clipped it and kept it like a small treasure. Since then, I’ve continued exploring this bridge between astrology and oenology. After all, some grapes have as much style, soul, and personality as the signs that dwell within us.
Today is the day to toast with Aquarius, the sign of originality, freedom, and forward-thinking ideas.
🌬️ The Aquarius Grape? CHARDONNAY!
Aquarians are free by nature. They need space to think, create, and observe, but above all, to be who they truly are. They are curious, inquisitive, idealistic, and often eccentric. They are always connected to the future, the collective, and the search for new ways of living and relating to the world.
And that’s why their grape is the restless and versatile Chardonnay.
Originating in Burgundy, this white grape is adaptable par excellence. It expresses itself in completely different ways depending on the soil, climate, and winemaking process. It can be light, fresh, with subtle fruity notes, or full-bodied, creamy, bold, and unforgettable, with notes of butter, vanilla, and oak.
Just like Aquarius, Chardonnay dislikes labels. It experiments, innovates, reinvents itself, and surprises.
🍷 What is Chardonnay wine like?
According to the Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine, Chardonnay is the most widely planted white grape in the world. And for good reason: it performs well almost anywhere. This makes it a true chameleon of viticulture.
Its wines are usually full-bodied and rich in aromas, especially when undergoing malolactic fermentation or aging on the lees. This provides a creamy texture and flavors such as butter, cream, vanilla, and ripe fruits.
The more structured and aged versions should be served at around 13°C (55°F). It is at this temperature that its complex aromas and density fully reveal themselves in the glass.
It is a wine that pairs well with heartier dishes. Pasta with creamy sauces, roasted fish, mild cheeses, or more elaborate vegetarian dishes are excellent choices.
É um vinho que acompanha bem pratos com mais estrutura. Massas com molhos cremosos, peixes assados, queijos suaves ou pratos vegetarianos mais elaborados são ótimas opções.
🌐 A wine with an Aquarian soul
Aquarius is about breaking patterns, exploring possibilities, and living authentically. So is Chardonnay.
It doesn’t fit into just one style. It experiments. It innovates. It adapts, but it never stops being itself.
What about you? Do you feel like this wine has everything to do with you or someone you know? Let me know in the comments.
I’d love to hear from you! 🥂
